Sindh govt declares Iqbal Day a holiday for educational institutions
KARACHI: The Sindh government announced on Thursday that all private and public schools would remain closed in the province on November 9 on the occasion of Iqbal Day.
There is no word from other provinces about the Iqbal Day being declared as a public holiday for educational institutes.
The announcement comes amid conflicting reports that federal government might declare Iqbal Day a public holiday.
However, a spokesperson for the Interior Ministry said that there would be no holiday on Friday.
No notification has been issued by the interior ministry regarding this,” the spokesperson said.
November 9 is celebrated as Iqbal Day, a tribute to Allama Muhammad Iqbal who was born in Sialkot on November 9, 1877.
