LOS ANGELES: Australian actress Margot Robbie is all set to play Barbie in Mattel’s first live-action feature movie.
The Oscar-nominated actress Robbie, 28, will co-produce the film based on the iconic doll by its toymaker Mattel and movie studio Warner Bros.
Barbie has already featured in dozens of animated movies in the past 60 years but none were ever distributed in theatres.
However, the feature film in question is the first from the toy manufacturer’s new studio Mattel Films and co-produced under the banner of Robbie’s production company LuckyChap Entertainment.
“I´m so honored to take on this role and produce a film that I believe will have a tremendously positive impact on children and audiences worldwide,” Robbie said.
