Govt to wait for SC’s written order on removal of names from ECL: Fawad
ISLAMABAD: The government will wait for the written order from the Supreme Court before taking the names off of the ECL, said information Fawad Chaudhry, on Thursday.
Fawad Chaudhry was holding a press conference when he made the announcement. The information minister said that the government had rejected the recommendation of the interior ministry to remove the names of 20 suspects from the ECL.
“Law ministry has informed the cabinet that there has been no written order from the Supreme Court regarding removal of the names of 20 suspects,” he said. “Therefore, the government will wait for a written order from the apex court before taking the action.”
He said that if the order came from the Supreme Court, the government could file an appeal against it.
“It is possible that a review appeal [on the order] would be submitted to the apex court,” he said.
