New Pakistani ambassador to submit credentials to Trump today

WASHINGTON: Newly-appointed Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States Dr Asad Majeed Khan will present his credentials to US President Donald Trump today.

According to details, a ceremony in this regard will commence at the White House during which the ambassadors of Afghanistan and India will also present their credentials to the US president.

Moreover, Dr Majeed arrived in Washington on January 8 to assume charge of his new post.

The Diplomat was previously serving as Pakistan’s ambassador in Tokyo. In the past, he had also served in New York and Washington on various important positions.

His appointment was announced by Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi in October last year.

Dr Majeed replaced Ali Jahangir Siddiqi who stepped down from his post as Pakistan’s ambassador to the US on December 25, 2018.
