Koffee with Karan controversy: Pandya, Rahul to be sent home after suspension
Hardik Pandya and his teammate Rahul are in deep trouble after their misogynistic and sexist comments during the recent Koffee with Karan episode.
Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul have been suspended following a pending inquiry regarding the duo’s comments on an episode of Koffee With Karan during which they discussed their escapades with women.
The episode has since been taken off air and pulled down from social media platforms as well. During the episode, Pandya had said that he was quite open about hooking up with several women with his parents.
He had said that he liked to observe women at nightclubs and bars. Rahul, on the other hand, was quite reserved about his statements.
Hours before the two were suspended, Indian skipper Virat Kohli had expressed his disapproval over the comments made by the cricketers.
“The two concerned players felt what has gone wrong and they have understood the magnitude,” Kohli said. “You don’t have control over these things so you have to address it the way it unfolds. That’s how we are looking at it.”
India face Australia in the three-match series starting in Sydney on Saturday.
Kohli distanced himself from the comments made by the cricketers.
“It has to hit anyone hard, they will definitely understand the things that have not gone right.
“These are purely individual opinions – we definitely, as the Indian cricket team, do not support views like that and that has been communicated.”
