AC grants three-day transit remand
ISLAMABAD: The anti-graft watchdog National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has today arrested leader of Pakistan People’s Party and the incumbent Speaker of Sindh Assembly Agha Siraj Durrani from Islamabad, subsequent to getting his three-day transit remand.
According to details, NAB is probing Durrani on various charges including having assets beyond known sources of income, misappropriation of funds and illegal appointments.
Sources disclosed that NAB has arrested the PPP leader from a five star hotel in the capital.
Following to Durrani’s arrest, the officials of the investigation team presented the Speaker of provincial assembly before an accountability court and sought his seven-day transit remand.
But the court allowed only three-day transit remand and ordered that Durrani’s medical examination be conducted today, said NAB official.
Moreover, the accountability court has directed NAB that Speaker Sindh assembly must be presented before a relevant court in Karachi after three days.
