Accountability should go ahead sans discrimination: Murtaza Wahab
PPP strongly condemns NAB's action to arrest sitting Speaker of Sindh Assembly
Karachi: Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh on Law, Anti-Corruption Establishment and Information Barrister Murtaza Wahab has said today ‘It is for the very first time in history that a sitting Speaker of Provincial Assembly has been arrested’ by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Talking to the media persons, Advisor said that Pakistan Peoples Party has strongly condemned this action of NAB against the Speaker of Sindh Assembly.
He asked ‘Are there any two different laws exist in Pakistan?’ which are different for PPP and for others.
Wahab said that ‘No one is allowed to deprive any citizen of its fundamental rights.’
Many other politicians are also facing inquiry in different cases like Speaker Punjab Assembly Pervez Elahi, Federal Defence Minister Pervez Khattak etc but they are treated in entirely different way.
Does NAB behaves in the same way with representatives of other parties too? Murtaza asked.
“I am not against the system of accountability but my point is that it should go ahead across the board without any discrimination”, said Wahab.
By such acts, It seems that the people of Sindh are being punished on account of their immense love, support and sympathy with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Murtaza added.
In the province of Sindh, Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) leaders are also facing inquiries in several cases since years. Why NAB is reluctant in taking action against them also ? Just because they do not belongs to PPP, he asked.
