Death count rises to six in Karachi ‘food poisoning’ incident
KARACHI: The death toll in the tragic incident of suspected food poisoning in Karachi has risen to six, family sources disclosed this today.
According to details, five children age groups between 1.5 to 9 years died yesterday after consuming contaminated food from a restaurant located in Karachi’s Sadar area.
Whereas their paternal aunt “Beena, 28, was admitted in the intensive care unit (ICU) in a critical condition and was placed on a ventilator before she died,” the sources added.
The bodies of the five children have been shifted to their hometown in Khanozai and they will be laid to rest today.
In this unfortunate incident, the ill-fated children identified as Abdul Ali 1.5-year old, Aziz Faisal four-year old, Aliya six-year old, seven-year old Tauheed and nine-year old Salvi.
Initial investigation has revealed that the cause of death was mainly due to suspected food poisoning and further investigations are underway,
Police officials on Friday said the family, who had reached Karachi from Quetta on Thursday night, had eaten at a restaurant in Khuzdar and later called for food at their guest house from a restaurant in Saddar.
