Hold your officers accountable or we will: Bilawal warns NAB chairman
Hold your officers accountable or we will do that, said PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Wednesday, warning the chairman NAB to take strict action.
Flanked by senior PPP leaders such as former Sindh chief minister Qaim Ali Shah, the Bhutto scion said that NAB’s decision to shift the fake accounts case from Karachi to Rawalpindi was a violation of law.
“The transfer of the case is a violation of jurisdiction,” he said.
The PPP chairman was referring to the transfer of a case in which his father Asif Ali Zardari and his aunt Faryal Talpur, among others, are accused of laundering money through fictitious accounts.
Bilawal slammed NAB and said that the bureau must stop with the ‘political engineering’.
“Even if an angel is made the chairman of Nab he will do political engineering,” he said. “The law of NAB is the black law,” he added.
Bilawal slammed NAB and said that an institution that was formed during General (r) Musharraf’s era was being used to arrest Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani.
He said that the post of the Speaker was not affiliated with the PPP.
“The attack on Sindh Assembly is outrageous. They arrested Agha Siraj Durrani without proof. Now, they are searching for it,” he said.
Bilawal warned the government from taking any step that would undermine the 18th Amendment.
“I am telling this clearly to the government—the 18th Amendment is where we draw the red line. I myself am ready to march and take to the streets if any attempts are made against it,” he said.
