Hundreds get locked out of their Twitter accounts as prank goes viral
Hundreds of users are getting locked out of their Twitter accounts after a prank urging them to change their birth year went viral on the internet.
Lots of people got their Twitter accounts locked after a prank went viral on the micro-blogging site. The prank called on users to switch their birth year to 2007 if they wanted to get colourful feeds.
Hundreds did that and as a result, they were locked out as Twitter does not allow 12-year-olds to operate the site. If your birth year is changed to 2007, that makes you 12 years old.
This was the tweet that set the prank in motion:-

Twitter called on people not to believe the prank and told them to contact Twitter support in order to retrieve their accounts.
“We’ve noticed a prank trying to get people to change their Twitter birthday in their profile to 2007 to unlock new color schemes,” Twitter said in its tweet. “Please don’t do this. You’ll get locked out for being under 13 years old.”
