LHC suspends Hanif Abbasi’s sentence
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday suspended Hanif Abbasi’s jail sentence. The PML-N leader will be released from jail following the order.
A hearing on a petition filed by Hanif Abbasi was conducted at Lahore High Court. The high court suspended Hanif Abbasi’s sentence in the ephedrine quota case.
The PML-N stalwart and former MNA was handed a life sentence after a court found him guilty of selling 500kg narcotics to drug peddlers. Hanif Abbasi had denied accusations.
The petition filed by Abbasi requested the court to dismiss his sentence as all other seven suspects in the case had been freed.
Abbasi had argued in the petition that the case filed against him was a political one that was not grounded in reality.
