Muslim family attacked by Hindu mob in India over cricket match withdraws complaint
NEW DELHI: A Muslim family which was attacked by a Hindu mob with rods and sticks inside their home in Gurgaon three weeks withdrew a police complaint against the brutal assault.
The family was attacked over a cricket match on the joyous occasion of Holi. A female member of the Muslim family had filmed the assault and shared on social media, sparking an outrage online.
Dilshad, who was one of the two complainants, told Indian police that he had no objection to the case being dismissed.
In a fresh affidavits in court earlier this week, the complainants declared those arrested by the police were “innocent”.
“We have agreed to an understanding because if we want to stay in this society, we have to listen to the society too. We would like the families and households of both sides to remain intact,” Sajid was quoted by Indian Express as saying.
