Shehryar Afridi will now look after ‘devolved’ ministry SAFRON
ISLAMABAD: Subsequent to the decision of the government of bringing reshuffling in the federal cabinet, former Interior Minister Shehryar Afridi has been given the portfolio of Ministry of State and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) which actually has been devolved earlier.
Afridi in the capacity of SAFRON minister was notified by the Prime Minister’s office yesterday.
Sources disclosed that soon after the merger of the Federallay Administered Tribal Area (FATA), it was decided in the federal cabinet’s meeting to lower down this ministry from federal to provincial level in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Moreover, a source said the Safron ministry had lost its importance after the 25th Constitution Amendment passed by parliament in 2018 because all important subjects being dealt with by the ministry had been devolved to KP.
The key role of this ministry is inclined towards managing the affairs and activities of the tribal areas.
