Money laundering case: IHC approves interim bail of Asif Zardari
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court has today approved the interim bail of former president and Pakistan Peoples Party leader Asif Ali Zardari.
Zardari today reached the Islamabad High Court (IHC) for seeking pre-arrest bail in the fictitious bank accounts case as his bail period was going to expire today.
It must be mentioned here that PPP leader has reached court a day before he was summoned by the country’s anti-graft watchdog in a case pertaining to Haresh Company.
Haresh company is also a part of the ongoing probe against former president in the fabricated accounts case.
In the petition, the reason Zardari cited for pre-arrest bail was that he has been summoned by the investigation body in the Haresh Company case and he might be arrested.
Zardari had requested the court to stop NAB from arresting him and that his bail to be approved.
Fake bank account case:
As per details of the case, FIA is probing more than 30 people on account of money laundering from forged banking transactions including Zardari, his sister Faryal Talpur, Hussain Lawai, Omni Group chairman Anwar Majeed etc.
According to FIA the laundered amount is said to be the black money gathered from kickbacks and bribes.
