Nawaz Sharif allows PML-N to launch anti-govt drive after Eid
LAHORE: Former jailed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has given his consent to party’s leaders to launch an anti-government protest movement after Eid ul Fitr.
The former premier, who has been serving a seven-year term at Kot Lakhpat jail, met with his daughter Maryam Nawaz, family members and senior party leaders.
According to a credible privy to the meeting, Nawaz Sharif has directed his party to step up preparations to start agitation against the government over economic deterioration, high inflation, unemployment and anti-people policies.
Shehbaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Hamza Shehbaz will also among the masses during the protests, added Nawaz Sahrif.
The PML-N supremo has also asked his party to chalk out a protest strategy and increase contacts with other opposition parties to put up a big front against the government.
Separately, Maryam Nawaz, who met her father at Kot Lakhpat, said that Nawaz Sharif was more concerned about the rapid economic deterioration than his own frail health.
Nawaz Sharif said that the PML-N must respond to the aspiration of the masses, stand with them and become their voice.
“MNS is leader of the masses. He was more concerned about the rapid economic deterioration & the common man’s ordeal than his frail health. Said PMLN must respond to the aspirations of the masses, stand with them & become their voice.”
