Federal Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb held a news conference on Wednesday where she claimed that a "Gilgit-Baltistan force" was being used to attack Punjab police who were trying to implement court orders to detain Imran Khan. The clashes occurred outside Imran’s Zaman Park residence in Lahore, as police were attempting to detain the PTI chief in pursuance of the arrest warrants issued by a local court in Islamabad on Monday. The PTI alleged that armed law enforcement personnel had opened fire on their workers, and that Imran's residence was "under extreme attack," though this could not be independently verified. The information minister accused Imran of wanting unrest and anarchy in the country and using women and children as human shields outside Zaman Park during the clashes. She urged the media to fact-check before reporting on claims made by the former prime minister and stressed that the warrants against Imran had been issued by the court, and that the police were merely implementing them.
